INTENSITY MODULATED RADIOTHERAPY
Intensity modulated radiotherapy is a kind of radiation used to treat cancerous tumours. The therapy works with the use of devices called linear accelerators, which are controlled by computers and deliver doses of radiation to tumours, or areas within a tumour. The therapy is very precise, as the amount of radiation that is applied can be very carefully controlled. Dr Paradza will use a CT scan to determine how much radiation you require and will come up with a treatment plan based on your specific needs. The treatment can be used to treat a wide range of cancers, although it is used most extensively for the treatment of prostate, head and neck cancers.
